So you are well prepared and you come home with the most beautiful drone pictures! Tip 1: Photograph in RAWBy photographing in RAW instead of JPEG, you have many more possibilities during editing. A RAW file contains much more information about the image, for example about the highlights and shadows. If the photos are slightly over- or underexposed, then it is easier to retrieve the details in the post-processing than with a JPG file. Tip 2: Make a good compositionSharpness is important, but the composition adds a lot to a photo and it determines how someone looks through the image. A central composition emphasizes what is in the middle. Also the rule of third parties can help you enormously with photographers with a drone. Take into account the lines in the landscape and consider what you want to emphasize - and where you want to have that in your image. Tip 3: Choose a low ISO valueA drone has a relatively small image sensor that is made up of many pixels. The more pixels a sensor has, the less light a single pixel can capture and the faster noise occurs. Therefore, set a low ISO value to limit the occurrence of noise. Your photos are then much cleaner in terms of appearance. Tip 4: Photograph in the golden hourThe best time to take pictures is during the famous 'golden hour'. Just before sunrise and in the evening just before sunset, the light is warm and you can make beautiful drone images. The sunlight and the long shadows create a nice atmosphere in your photos. Tip 5: Use filtersThere are also filters for drones. A gray filter does not affect the colors of your photos, but it does affect how much light penetrates the sensor of your drone. With a gray filter you have much more control over the shutter speed you set, this is useful when photographing snow or white beaches. With a polarization filter you reduce glare of, for example, water and the total contrast and the color saturation of blue tones are increased. . Tip 6: Also point your camera straight downBy pointing the camera of your drone straight down, you get a whole new perspective. Patterns and planes of the landscape become important and give you a great opportunity to take unique pictures. You emphasize specific elements by playing tactically with the composition. Tip 7: Do not fly too highA shot taken from a huge height is very cool, but due to the wide angle of the camera you sometimes have too much on the picture so you see only a few details. Therefore do not fly too high so that you can make more detailed images with your drone. Tip 8: Edit your imagesAfterwards, look critically at your images and, for example, edit them in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Lightroom. Maybe you want a bit more contrast in the photo, or can the colors have more saturation? Let the images taken "lie" for a few days and then look at them again. You will see that you look at it differently with a fresh look and the drone photographs probably also work very differently. Tip 9: Take an extra batteryIt is convenient to take one or more extra batteries for your drone. With most drones you can fly for about half an hour. An extra battery gives you more rest during shooting. This makes you better compositions and you get better pictures and also you have to need check out all drone parts. Tip 10: Think about your safety and that of othersSafety goes for everything! Before you set off, check again what kind of weather it is, whether the drone is technically correct and whether you can take off safely. Find out in advance whether you can actually fly with a drone on the spot where you want to go. The regulations change regularly.
